'Ooldea' screening this Sunday

04 July 2008

The Western Australian documentary Ooldea will screen on ABC 2 at 8:30pm this Sunday July 6, and ABC 1 at 3:00pm the following Sunday, July 13.

Produced by local production company CM Film Productions, Ooldea follows composer Iain Grandage as he searches for a musical connection in his collaboration with the Spinifex Elders of the Great Victoria Desert and is introduced along the way to ‘Tjukurrpa' - the spiritual dimension that governs and connects all things. Iain attempts to place traditional Spinifex songs of the land alongside a western orchestral score and remain true to both musical traditions. When events take a dramatic twist prior to opening night of the orchestral piece, the real impact of this cultural and artistic collaboration is revealed.

Ooldea was written and directed by Mick Angus and produced by Carmelo Musca, with funding support from ABC TV and ScreenWest.
