Feature Navigator Development Program (Feature films)
Feature Navigator is ScreenWest's screenplay development and marketing program for Western Australian filmmaking teams, aimed at assisting drama feature projects to move from story development through to financing.
Phase One of the Feature Navigator 2012 program will be a Writing Workshop with Andrew Bovell. Several grants of $3,500 will be available to participants in the February workshop 'Writing The Screen Story' with Andrew Bovell. ScreenWest and the Australian Writers' Guild (AWG) are bringing the acclaimed screenwriter and playwright to Perth for a three day workshop on story: how to frame it, how to shape it, how to drive it forward, how to hold it still, and how to make sure it's a story worth telling. Following the workshop, participants will submit a short synopsis to ScreenWest and up to three projects will receive funding for further development. This hands-on, free workshop is the first phase of the Feature Navigator Development Program for 2012. The workshop will run for three days from Tuesday, 21 to Thursday, 23 February at the new ScreenWest offices, 140 William Street in Perth.
The workshop will include a theoretical and practical approach to the screenwriting craft. It will involve case studies, scene development and practical writing exercises.
This program is presented by ScreenWest in association with the Australian Writers' Guild (AWG) and Screen Australia.
